Newborn inspires parents

Kuala Lumpur (26 May 2004) – Anxious parents, Encik Yusni Alfian and Ruzi Asyima finally calmed their newborn baby Emil Naufat, by massaging her delicate feet. Inspired by this touching moment, Yusni captured this picture with his camera phone and submitted it to Maxis’ MMS SnapMaster Contest themed Mother’s Day.

“I find MMS very useful as my camera phone allows me to take unforgettable moments such as these to treasure forever. My wife too loves her MMS mobile phone as it gives her an opportunity to capture moments to share with me or even get my opinion when out shopping,” explained Yusni.

Yusni, together with nine others are winners of the Maxis MMS SnapMaster Contest. Each took home the latest Sony Ericsson Z600 MMS camera phone and four high-tea vouchers to celebrate the win with their loved ones.

Twenty-one-year-old student, Khor Sujian, loves using MMS as it allows her to take pictures of her friends to send to each other for remembrance. Ecstatic that she won a new MMS camera phone, Khor will be using the phone to take even more pictures. She plans to treat her mother and her boyfriend’s mother to high-tea with vouchers from Maxis.

Another winner, 20 year-old Won Jeng Yean, took part in the MMS contest to reconcile with his mother whereas 24 year-old information systems student, Syarifuddin Mustapha, wanted to express his feelings in loving memory of his late mother.

Although very excited over his win, Syarifuddin admitted he rejected two phone calls from Maxis. “I thought it was a prank caller and when the person at the other end kept insisting I won, it suddenly dawned on me that it was for real,” he revealed.

The other winners for the Maxis MMS SnapMaster Contest include Mindy Chung Wai Meng, Kumaran a/l Kerpaya, Moveendra Kumar a/l Puspanathan, Chan Mun Chiang, Tee Kean Yoong and Perrakas a/l Subramanian.

The Maxis MMS SnapMaster contest is targeted at 012 and 017 Maxis postpaid and Hotlink Prepaid customers. It tests the participant’s creativity in capturing magical and even crazy moments through MMS.

“There are countless of real life examples that can be best served using MMS,” said Maxis’ Senior General Manager of Consumer Marketing, Ms Kiang Chew Peng. “Today many of us can’t imagine life without a mobile phone. I believe in a few years time, you can’t possibly imagine life without MMS!”

Unlike SMS where one can only send text messages, MMS allows you to send messages that combines texts, sounds, images and video. In reality, it is a whole new world of experience.

“You can capture and share those magical moments with your friends and loved ones even though you’ve left your camera at home. You can get a second opinion when out shopping alone for those new clothes, or, you can simply send birthday wishes with videos and pictures instead of a text message or even a traditional birthday card”.

Kiang is also equally excited about what the future has in store for consumers. “With faster data and transmission rates through the 3G network together with improved quality in mobile phones, consumers can look forward to downloading more pictures, games, video and also receive better quality in audio and visual for video streaming”.
